The Paddington film series is a live-action animated comedy film franchise based on the character Paddington Bear, a kind-hearted and polite bear from Peru who finds a home with the Brown family in London. It was created by British author Michael Bond. The franchise consists of animated television series, films, and a stage musical. The films are produced by StudioCanal, in collaboration with Heyday Films and other production partners.
The first film, Paddington (2014), was directed by Paul King. It was followed by Paddington 2 (2017), which built on the success of the first film. Both films were commercially successful.
A third installment, Paddington in Peru, was released on November 8, 2024 with Dougal Wilson making his feature directorial debut. The series has been credited with revitalizing family cinema and remains popular with audiences of all ages.
Paddington (2014)
From the beloved novels by Michael Bond and producer David Heyman (HARRY POTTER), PADDINGTON tells the story of the comic misadventures of a young Peruvian bear (voiced by Firth) who travels to the city in search of a home. Finding himself lost and alone, he begins to realize that city life is not all he had imagined - until he meets the kindly Brown family who read the label around his neck that says "Please look after this bear. Thank you" and offer him a temporary haven. It looks as though his luck has changed until this rarest of bears catches the eye of a museum taxidermist.
Paddington 2 (2017)
Paddington, now happily settled with the Brown family in Windsor Gardens, has become a popular member of the community, spreading joy and marmalade wherever he goes. While searching for the perfect present for his beloved Aunt Lucy’s 100th birthday, Paddington spots a unique pop-up book in Mr. Gruber’s antique shop, and embarks on a series of odd jobs to buy it. Hilarity and adventure ensues when the book is stolen and Paddington and the Browns must unmask the thief.
